Back into the Swing of Things

2009 started out with a bang.  Ok, a bug.  The flu bug.  First it hit Lui and I play nurse maid for 3 days.  Then it was my turn, and it was a doozy.  I am just getting back on my feet literally. Next week I plan to restart blogging and hopefully entertaining you all again.  In the meantime some goals for the new year:

1) "Streamline" the business.  Sounds so corporate, but it is the best word to describe what needs to be done in order to accomplish #2.

2) Get social.  Start planning more outings (beyond the supermarket and the gym!) and really living la bella vita.

3) Work on my book idea.  Yeah, me and everyone else out there, but it's a dream so I might as well pursue it.  Besides, I like my rough draft outline!

4) Finish the house.  We came a long way in 2008, but still have some work to do.  Then hopefully I can "unveil" the before and after shots online soon.

5) See more of the South.  It's been too many years since my last visit.  Been wanting to head down to Puglia and Calabria, but it's been too much talk and no action.  I'm shooting for the fall.

That's it for now.  Hope you have entered into 2009 with hope and excitement of a new year and new opportunities!  A dopo - M:)

Tell me about the book plan!

For just over the Puglia border into Basilicata...I have a terrific guide for doing the sassi in Matera, where you must go if you haven't been! And oh! the food at Masseria Frantoio outside Ostuni!

Hope you feel better soon.

Happy New Year!!

I'm just getting over a cold as well. Good luck with your '09 goals.

Hope you're feeling better. We've found that those Euro germs are much stronger than the New World bugs we're used to!

Great goals - I share a few of them with you. I agree with Sally, if you head south get thee to Basilicata. We've seen quite a bit of the region and it's gorgeous.

Thanks for the all nice comments! I am still under the weather but much better than last week.

Sally - Will tell you all about the book idea at some point, would like it to be over a nice bottle of wine. When do you return?

Valerie - Basilicata is on the list as well. Depending on how much time I have, it may be a part of this year's plan.

Looking forward to more blogging and reading of blogs in 2009...

Hope you are both feeling better. Tell Nonna Rosella that we now have 2 Bulldogs. We have adopted a second through bulldog rescue. She is white with a few fawn spots - and is totally deaf (and a challenge). Her name is Frosty. We miss Liguria and all of Italia - we hope to come back soon, but with a brand new grand daughter, Olivia and a grandson on the way (due in May) we are not sure when.

PS We have had lunch at Masseria Frantoio outside Ostuni and it was outstanding! (see SW's comment above)
